Available to order from June 1, the Polo GTI Edition 25 shows up without any extra effort as it carries a turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine. The TSI 2.0 continues to produce 204 horsepower (152 kW) and 236 pound-feet (320 Newton-meters) of torque delivered to the front wheels via a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The hardware setup guarantees a 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) run in six and a half seconds.
As standard, VW fits the Polo GTI Edition 25 with a sports suspension that lowers the body by 15 millimeters (0.6 in). To sweeten the mess, the Wolfsburg folks also throw in an electronic differential lock and adaptive matrix LED headlights. The limited edition B-segment model rides on 18-inch Adelaide wheels in gloss black to match the dark side mirror caps and roof. Customers can order the car with one of the following paints: Smoke Gray Metallic, Pure White, Ascot Grey, Reef Blue Metallic, Deep Black Pearl Effect and Kings Red Metallic.
Apart from the subtle body graphics and the “one of 2500” logo on the edge of the sill panel, this Edition 25 is essentially the same as the regular Polo GTI. For an additional cost, buyers can order a travel assist system that works at speeds up to 130 mph (210 km/h) and takes care of steering, braking and acceleration. Some infotainment systems are also available to replace the standard eight-inch unit.
The Polo may be on its last legs as VW’s Thomas Schaeffer has warned that the implementation of the Euro 7 standard in 2025 could force the company to abandon the supermini. Installing the mandatory hardware will add €3,000 to €5,000 to the price tag, making it quite expensive. The confirmed arrival of the ID.2 electric hatch in 2025 will also put the nail in the coffin for the VW Polo: next-gen Tiguan, T-Roc and the last ICE car from the Passat brand.

Volkswagen CEO Thomas Schaeffer recently spoke to a German publication about the future of the brand. According to reports, Shaffer has confirmed that the automaker is almost done with launching the new ICE-powered car.
Volkswagen will launch the next-generation Passat and Tiguan later this year, while the new T-Roc will arrive in 2025. This is the last ICE car launched by the brand. Schafer said the T-Roc will be the last new combustion engine car in Europe. While other models will be heavily upgraded, there will be no “all new” vehicles after 2025.
Thomas Schaefer also suggested that Polo may be nearing its end. The upcoming Euro 7 emissions regulations will make the subcompact hatchback very expensive, especially after adding a hybrid setup. Shaffer said the new Polo could cost as much as the 2025 ID.2all, so does it make sense to sell such a small hatchback?
However, reports suggest that Visit Wales wants to name some of its models in the EV era. The brand has already confirmed that the Golf and Tiguan nameplates will not be retired. Visit Wales already plans to introduce ID. The Tiguan will arrive sometime in 2026. The electric Golf, on the other hand, will arrive sometime by 2028 and will be based on the upcoming SSP architecture.
