Russia still buys as many Lada Nivas as Australians buy RAV4s, even though they’re almost half a year old, the Lexus UX Hybrid is just as powerful. It’s the first model to get a fifth generation hybrid.
Lexus introduces the 2025 UX hybrid model, which brings a new and more powerful engine called the 300h. There are other minor changes to the hybrid crossover, including a new exterior color and more.
The 2025 UX 300h features the automaker’s fifth-generation hybrid system, the first time it’s been installed in a Lexus product. The machine combines a 2.0-liter inline-four gas engine with two generators via continuously variable transmission. The result is 196 horsepower, up from 181 horsepower last year.

A hybrid drivetrain and a lightweight lithium-ion battery pack help boost power and ensure better fuel economy, Lexus says. There is a 60 cell contactor battery that is now located under the rear seat for better comfort for passengers and storage.
The 2025 UX 300h also introduces switch-by-wire technology to the UX model, meaning there is no mechanical connection between the switch and transmission, only electrical signals. The machine manufacturer promises quick and easy changes. Thanks to the powerful hybrid powertrain and new shift-by-wire technology, the crossover accelerates to 60 miles per hour in 7.9 seconds in AWD mode.
The UX 300h can also be equipped with E-Four all-wheel drive. The system consists of an integrated motor mounted behind the rear axle, which provides near-instant power application at low speeds or acceleration.
Finally, the 2025 MY brings back the Copper Crest as a new exterior option for the brand. The extended crossover palette now includes shades of Caviar, Obsidian, Redline, Nori Green Pearl, Grecian Water, Cloudburst Gray, Iridium and Eminent White Pearl. On all UX hybrid models are 18-inch run-flat tires.

The UX will be offered with hybrid power in the United States, as well as an all-electric version. Pricing for the UX 300h will be announced next year, and sales should begin soon. TORONTO, Ontario – (February 21, 2024) – The Lexus UX Hybrid will get a new, bigger number on its badge for the 2025 model year – plus more power under the hood. . This is just the beginning of the upgrades Lexus guests will find in the electric crossover, which offers the hatchback a well-designed hatchback with SUV-like versatility.
“The UX Hybrid has built a reputation for urban technology, and in 2025, Lexus engineers have added performance to allow our premium crossover to bring more power to the road,” said Martin Gilbert, director of Lexus Canada. “We have updated the new UX 300h with the latest technologies and added new digital equipment for selected grades – ensuring that this model continues to provide an urban experience that is useful for our guests’ lives.”
New this year, the 2025 UX 3h becomes the first Lexus vehicle powered by the fifth-generation Lexus Hybrid System. This autonomous hybrid-electric powertrain features in-line four powerful air engines and two generators, and electronically controlled continuously variable transmission, with a small lithium-ion battery that replaces the previous generation’s nickel-metal hydride battery. Engineers combined this system with a new hybrid drivetrain to allow more power from the front and rear wheels to give the UX 300h a combined 196 horsepower – 15 horsepower more than the previous model. This powertrain also features new shift-by-wire technology that eliminates mechanical linkages to create faster and smoother shifting.
All grades come standard with the added confidence of the all-season Lexus AWD system. The system includes an integrated motor mounted on the rear axle to apply the drive power instantly when accelerating, cornering or driving downhill. A strong center of gravity and careful control of the chassis and suspension system make for a smooth and responsive handling experience.
